Lanos question

Does anybody know the head torque and rod bolt torque for the Lanos 1.6? Thanks.

I don't have the torque specs for the lanos handy but the Aveo manual says 18 lb ft+60°+60°+60°+10°

The Aveo and Lanos engines are pretty much the same so it should be just fine.

Wow.... that seems way too low.... the 18lb-ft sound correct but +30°+15° sounds wrong.... it's usually at least three if not four increments typically.

I will pull up my manual..... yup just as I figured something is off here.

My manual ( which quotes Daewoo Motor America as it's source ) says 18 lbft +70 +70 +30


So my GM Techline manual states the Aveo is 18lbft and a total of 190 degrees of rotation
My Mitchell On-Demand (used by dealerships) shows 18 lbft and a total of 170 degrees of rotation

Given that the first two degree increments are 10 degrees more than the Aveo that makes the two specifications fairly close


However 18 lbft plus just 45 degrees sounds way off.

Personally if I were you I would not follow this manual...... which to tell you the truth I have never downloaded so I don't know where it came from.

Both my manuals are dealership manuals so I think they are the ideal ones to trust.

"Dawoo 2000 Lanos Service Manual, Vol. 1 of 2, section 1C-4, under 'Fastener Tightening Specifications' for DOHC 1.6L "

I know what I would do.
I would use the specifications that are listed in the official Daewoo Lanos Service Manual.
In other words the spec's that Daniel originally posted in this thread.

Why?
Because I am sure that these are the spec's the company, Daewoo, that put your car on the market, is comfortable with.
If they were wrong, imagine the liability issues that would arise ?
These engines have been around now for quite a few years.
I'm sure many of them have been rebuilt to these spec's taken from this manual.

OOPS.... didn't see the part about the rod bolts.... I was still quoting the head bolt torque


My manual says 18 lbft +70 +70 +30 for the Lanos cylinder head bolts

For the connecting rod bearing cap bolts it says 18lbft +30 degrees


Sorry for the confusion.... I was thinking this was all about the cylinder head bolts and somehow I missed the fact that Daniel was quoting rod bolts.

Most dealerships use the Mitchell On-Demand system for manuals...... that system is also used for time quotations and nearly every body shop.

When you purchase the Mitchell On-Demand it doesn't just give you Daewoo manuals, it gives you ever car ever made as well as every update.

Dealers will allways get more than just the cars they are selling in for service.... which is why they use the Mitchell system which gets it's information directly from the manufacturer.

The specs in that manual are from Daewoo America.... they couldn't say that if it wasn't true.... these Mitchell systems often cost thousands a month so their data is allways trustworthy.


Like I said before, I don't have this other manual that Audacity was giving out.... for some reason I thought that the Daewoo Manuals were allways on paper.... I tried downloading it to see it but I couldn't download it for some reason.... when I try to get to "www.storeandserve.com " it comes up as a dead link.... so perhaps this manual is no longer available.

PS... I worked for a GM dealer in the parts and service department.
