Plastic absorbs heat...duh! What do you think aluminum does? In fact metals are better heat conductors.

Plastic is alot more pourous than metal so it allows more heat in. Also I read that ABS is constantly releasing toxins so that will get adding into your intake charge and isn't good for the life of the engine. You can coat metal with powdercoating or ceramic coat to help resist heatsoak.

Or you can wrap it like I did, either way, its better than plastic.

i know i need to clean my engine like really bad. i'm a bit lazy in that part of keeping anything but the outside of it clean. but after looking in my throttle-body i need to clean it bad  . i did clean the throttle-body out but i'm gonna buy some throttle and intake cleaner from autozone. then just go at it when i get back from florida since i'll have like a week and a half to get ready for show.

well anyways i did notice a slight difference. it picks up a bit better and just sounds a lot better too. :D

My intake: '92-'95 Honda Civic Del Sol wrapped with insulating "foam" wrap. And yes, unfortunately, it is APC.
