Heat/Air/Vent Control problem?

I havE A 2000 Lanos, 1.6 and if you reach to the right of the steering wheel, under the dash, you can reach the selector with your right hand. It is right along the center console. If you push the arm that the selector cable would attach an control, push it all the way forward and it will be on defrost. if you put the fan on high, then the switch will go to defrost easier. The easiest way to see where it is is to slowly move the control knob while you are looking under the dash and you can see the lever it controls. Once you know that you can easily reach it and do it yourself while driving. To me getting the defrost is the only crucial one, the other positions are just comfort things.
