Easy Acing.... I do have after market parts on my lanos. You know stereo.... and muffler... and ... did i mention stereo?
Yea the muffler isn't as i had hoped... sounds horrid on an auto. Don't be blasting Modified automatics... Shauns "Icy Blue Woo" is pretty sexy considering it is an automatic.
I grew up on standards and i hate auto's... so... wth, i'm trying to get an automatic. Those jerks still won't budge at $4850.... i know it's def. not worth that. I'd only get half to 1/3 for a trade as soon as i take it off the lot.
So if they don't budge, being it's the only lanos in my area (that i found online, thats not an auto. And i mean within 75 miles.)
I might just have to drop the woo badges and jump onto Kia.
Kia's really don't have a booming aftermarket section either.
I'd want a Spectra GSX 5-spd. 1.8L is pretty nice.
they do have one website offering EVERYTHING practically.
www.kia-fx.com
So they have a month, any longer, i'm getting a kia. I'd rather a lanos, i know that car inside and out. Like how fast i can take corners, where it shifts, etc. But if they're going to be dicks, what can i do eh?

True. Look at the shift tronic. .2 seconds between shifts. A 5/6-speed shift tronic, being there's no one pressing a clutch, shortens throw.
Then again. It's not exactly the sporty thing to do. You know the whole racing adrenaline of pushing the clutch in and hitting high rpm's.
Eh then again it's all about personal Preference. No one would argue with a 5-speed automatic supra. especially with a shift tronic shift system... *drool drool*

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Racing should be racing and not auto robot shifting for you. If everyone is going to get the shift tronic transmissions, then how much fun would it be to go to the drag and race? None. Just push the gas to the floor and hope your tranny is better... it's dumb.KnightWalace wrote:Then again. It's not exactly the sporty thing to do. Then again, Civics, Integras, Eclipses, etc. they don't have these shift tronic tannies, but I always see them modified...

One thing you have to think about is the fact that an automatic will never miss a shift.
I drive a 5spd but I know quite a few drag racers that use automatics with shift kits installed.
I'm told that many of the automatics will take more punishment than a 5spd.... but that depends on the manufacturer of the transmission.
If you dig around I bet that you will find that there are piles of really really fast drag cars running automatic transmissions..... I wouldn't be surprized if there are more autos than manuals down in the 10 second range.
When your car get to be really fast it's hard to keep up with the shifts... sure the automatics are slightly slower during the actual shifting but they help keep things from breaking.
For example.... in a manual with a high output engine and a very aggressive clutch pack you could easily snap an axle during the 1-2 shift if you had enough grip.... but in an automatic the torque converter will slip a little and take the harshness out of the shift (which saves the axles... among other things )
Yes automatics are not as fun but they have their advantages during drag racing.
On the other hand if you look at anything other than drag racing a manual will kick the automatics butt (such as autocross)

Hey Erfinder,
I'm from western Pa... about an hour out of Pittsburgh.
I have A base 2000 Lanos S HB. It has a Universal Muffler, Pioneer Mp3 Player. I really want $3500... But I will drop a little if i get a right price... throw a number out if u want.
And yes about automatics, with shift kits.... Most Indy Cars, Nascar, Drag Racing have them. They usually have a "Paddle" configuriation. Meaning on their steering wheel theres' 2 button like paddles.... left downshifts, right upshifts. if i had to get one , yes it would have to be the "TipTronic" type... where when you get to Drive, you push it to the right(or left) and theres just a tap up or down throws the car into the next gear.
OI.... i don't know what to think anymore

In all reality i can't sell my car yet. I'm going to save up some money and pray to god i get an internship at a local programming company.
$13.60 an hour. I think i may retire the lanos and hit up a 2005 Kia Spectra EX.
I love my lanos, but i can't do much. They won't drop the price. Aftermarket parts on the Kia's are easier found. It Already has.... a turbo kit. Adding up to 100-200 hp. gives me the chills... and if i can afford it i'll grab another lanos.
Here's what i wanna do:
Get My bachelors in Information Technology:specializing in programming, networking, Technician, and hacking. (hopefully getting that internship at the end of Freshman year)
Go to a local tech school and learn about cars in and out. Full engine rebuilds and custom fabrications.
Go back for my masters and Doctorate in information technology.
All the while after my bachelors... have the Spectra(daily driver), Lanos (doing a full rebuild in and out), and another complete tuner... maybe a supra... i don't know. i'' let you know in say, 3-4 years
those are my plans so ... i might keep my car frosh year and then trade up when i get some money saved... ttyl all
