Whats the biggest engine/tranmission I can fit in a 97 Cielo

Hi All, Just wondering what is the most powerfull engine/tranny I can fit in a 97 Cielo?
I now have 3 Cielo's at my place. One of these is going to be used as spare parts for the engine & tranny & I thought I woulod have fun with the other. I know that over the years, nearly all car manufactures have had there fun with Daewoo & I now want a part of that fun!
If anyone can help with this info & if nessasary advise of any mounting issues I have with their recomendations, I would be greatly appreciative!

That is nexia right?

You can fit ANY opel engine....

C20NE (2.0 8v 115HP)
C20GET (2.0 8v turbo 180HP)
C20XE (2.0 16V 150HP)
C20LET (2.0 16V turbo 204HP, up to 280HP stock)
C25XE (2.5 V6 180HP)
X20XEV (2.0 16V 136HP)
Z20LET (2.0 16V turbo 194HP, up to 240HP stock)

etc...

Also many saab's engine can go inside.

Gearboxes? Any Opel gearbox, like F16 (you already have), F20, F23, F25, F28 (6speed), etc...

C20LET and F20 gearbox is the best combination for your car...

BTW, holden is GM partner, so there must be similar engines...

Would just like to add to the list a bit.

-C20NE (2.0 8v 115HP) [Lower Compression of the two 8v's. can actually be boosted with no engine mods to around 7psi on standard internals. Would recommend a thicker head gasket to lower compression further]

-C20SEH (2.0 8v 110 or 130HP) [High compression engine of the two 8v's, and the quicker as the one earlier engine with no cat or lambda sensor the 20SEH was 130bhp]

-C20GET (2.0 8v turbo 180HP)

-C20XE (2.0 16V 150HP)

-C20LET (2.0 16V turbo 204HP, up to 280HP stock)

-C25XE (2.5 V6 167HP)

-C30XEI (3.0 V6 229BHP)

-X20XEV (2.0 16V 136HP)

-Z20LET (2.0 16V turbo 194HP, up to 240HP stock)

Gearboxes? Any Opel gearbox, like F16 (you already have), F18, F20, F23, F25, F28 (6speed), etc...

There's also different ratios with most boxes and generally, the further up the F# you go, the larger the final drive ratio. Maybe except the f28.

Also, just made a few changes, the c25ze is only 167 bhp, not 180 unfortunatly. And added the c30xe. the 'MV6' engine. a 3.0 version that came in Vauxhall Omegas. Usually used as police cars etc. VERY hard to get compared to the c25xe, and as far as stats go, the c30xe engines also have variations like c20sej, c30se, c30ne etcetc, that were all found in Omega A's and Senators. As far as bhp is concerned, the c30xe was a mere 169KW [229bhp? :O]
but somewhat lacked in torque, for the sixe of the engine anyway.

Just as a side note, All these engines bar the v6's, run the exact same block as a 1.8 version of the vauxhall/opel engines, which all stem from a 1.8 Opel Manta engine, just with different internals. The internals of the c20XE are the strongest in the naturally aspirated engines, the X20XE was a more economical version of the C20XE. [Hence the C changing to an X at the start] which is a result in loss of power due to smaller ports in the head etc. The c20LET however you just won't beat for a good engine if you're looking for a turbo'd motor. If not go with a v6 to be different or go with the C20XE, the 'Redtop'.

Or 3.6 (as far as I remember) from Lotus Omega (almost impossible to find :P)

For fitting every 2.0 You only need original (from Opel) engine mount. You can fit every single one of these engines with Your stock D16 transmission. 2.0 without any problems, by V6 You have to use 8-bolts flat flywheel from 20XE, and flat clutch pressure plate assembly from 20xe

It is almost impossible to put 3.6 from lotus omega (c36get) because it is 6 in line(R6). C36GET is based on opel C30SE

And for the transmission you will need one from opel(vauxhall, etc.) that fits the big block engine and the big block engines are
only one 1.6(16SH) and any 1.8, 2.0 and 2.2

I'am not quite sure that the cielo/nexia has that type of transmission.

PS: I think there is one 1.8 opel engine which have small block - 1.8 16V

Yeah there is an 1800 small block, and yes the cielo runs a CR F16 box, so your Cielo box will suit an opel engine.

I didnt know the Lotus carltons were an inline 6, always thought they were a v6 badboy. Cool.

You are absolutely right, don't know why I was thinking it was V6

There is one 1.8 which is small block

Tranny from Nexia is Opel's F16 - and I'm absolutely sure You can bolt it with every Big block :P And V6
