im looking at getting a tip put on my exhaust, does it make it sound better or are tips purely for look?

tips are purely for looks. just buy a whole new muffler. now a days you can get one cheap from ebay. or if you have the cash get a good one. no point in wasting like what $20 on a tip. when you can just save another hundred for a good sounding and somewhat performance gaining outcome.

Just go for a new backbox, you'll never regret it, honestly. I'm using a Scorpion exhaust on my car and it came off a Vauxhall Astra GTE which is not almost 20 years old! And it still upped the performance! And sounds awesome.

Yes I agree

I r ecently changed my rear muffler and I got better fuel economy(10.2L per 100 KM reduced to 8.5 KML per 100 KM) very happy
it cost me $A120 in australia
