where to find the o2 sensor on a cielo

Post by beekoy »

i have a cielo/nexia 1.5 gle 1999 and i wanna see if i can improve on gas mileage if i disconnect/replace the o2 sensor as you guys have discussed here in this forum. the deawoo service stations closed here 6 or some years ago and the car i bought was 2nd hand and didnt come with a service manual.

I must be really stupid now. I followed the header all the way to the muffler but cant seem to spot damn thing. Can
You please walk me thru this?which side or end of the car can i reach it from? Do i need to detach anything to see it? From the pix i have an idea what the o2 looks like. Or does this cielo ever had an o2 sensor? It was available in the philippines as 1.5 gle sohc 1999 manual. Thx for your help man!

Hi beekoy,

Maybe your engine has a different management system with a CO potentiometer for leaded fuel. So maybe you don't have a O² sensor. Here was a thread about that http://www.daewootech.com/forum/viewtop ... entiometer .

Daniel

BTW CO pot should look like this:

now that makes sense.

thanks daniel!

just sad daewoo chose to dump these cars here when unleaded fuel has been available here even before 1995, at least.

following the link you posted, would it matter if i unplug the octane level indicator plug from the ECU and should i expect an improvement on mileage on this type of fuel management system if i do this?

i already cleaned the terminals, iac, plugs, changed the spark plugs, oil and filters.

I would select a octane plug in relation with the fuel I use mostly. Here I use 95 octane fuel and get 8.6L/100km (27+ mpg us). I cant' say you if your gas mileage will be better or worse w/o octane plug. MM tried it. Why not give a try and tell us your results? I guess that your car hasn't (pricey) catalytic converter too. So you can't hurt it ;) . What is your actual gas mileage?

forgot about that... if you have O2 less managment that runs on a potentiometer then you got no O2 sensor in the exhaust mani and you will have a "potentiometer" near your left strut

right now i'm getting 6.7-7.0 km/liter

i know its bad thats why i'm looking at other ways to get consumption down., lots of help needed here guys.

and now i got no o2 sensor and i found the white octane plug (from the pics on the forum topic) but its not connected to anywhere. it just sits there on top of the ECU after i remove the ECU shroud/plastic cover.

right now im using 95 octane.

MMamdouh - thanks for the pic, when you mean strut is that the suspension? sorry about that, really new to this DIY thing.

- or maybe you can also get me a pic where the o2 sensor is usually located on the cielo and ill crawl down there and give this thing another try.

thanks guys!
