Need help identifying a hose

Post by cheri »

Hi. We have a problem on our 2000 Lanos. We broke a hose on the back of the motor and need to replace it but we can't figure out what it's called. It is under the intake manifold and it connects to the hoses going to the water pump, the hose coming from the radiator, and the heater core. It's shaped like an L and it's like a really hard plastic material like the thermostat housing. We're lost! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think your talking about the water manifold (distributes and circulates the coolant) thats right under the intake manifold? runs horizontal?
Hard, black plastic?

Two of the nipples on it are for the heater (one in and one out) one end is on the water pump and the end above the transmission has a hose that goes up to the radiator surge tank? If this is the one, it's kind of a pita to remove. Not a lot of space to work in but it can be done with a lot of swearing (or patience) take your pick.

You may be able to repair it (if it's just a crack?) with one of the better quality epoxy repair kits (must be able to withstand high temperatures, pressure and be the kind you roll the two parts together?)
Better to get a new one though.

Yea that sounds like it. We broke off one of the nipple things. Thanks for the help. Fortunately we've found a temporary fix.
