Head gasket

Post by lfonsec2 »

Head gasket in 2000 lanos 1.6L is done for. Coolant is disappearing daily. Oil is milky and car is smoking. Im in tampa, fl. Anyone know where I can get parts. Im assuming I just need the cylinder head and head gasket set. Is there anything else I need and is there anything I should go ahead and replace while doing this job. Also, anyone have a DIY or give me any advice. So far, Daewoo is the weirdest car Ive worked on.

Thanks in advance.

Check out the FAQ section for a service manual in downloadable format.

And you really need a set of head bolts. They are stretch bolts by design and should be replaced with each head lift. If you are on a serious budget, they can be overlooked, but be sure they are torqued as precisely as possible.

But yeah, head gasket set, and head gasket should do you fine.

Check eBay if you want decent parts for cheap. Also, the OEM Aveo gasket is MLS and may be a better option for you. Another source (for both the Aveo gasket and the Lanos gasket) is www.gm-car-parts.com . If you go with there you will get Daewoo OEM stuff.

I cant find the head bolts anywhere. I didnt find them on gm-car-parts. Anyone got any places? Im getting the head remanufactured, and I got the head gasket set, now I just need the bolts.
