??? lanos 1.6 16v VS lacetti/optra 1.8 16v (on paper) ???

Post by Wolf-Spirit »

Well its as follows Belgium is making a lacetti "sport" wich will hold a 1.8 16v (in belgium its only 1.4 and 1.6 normaly but i bet 1.8 is stock in us lucky bitches).
Now i want to compare my lanos 1.6 to the lacetti 1.8.. so i did (on paper) but i got some wierd conclusions?

lanos...................................lacceti...................................Difrence

Cars weight: 1006kg...................................1175kg...................................+169kg
HP:106hp/6000rpm...................................122hp/5800rpm...................................+16hp/-200rpm

torque:146nm/3400rpm...................................165nm/4000rpm...................................+19nm/+600rpm

From aboves paper stats this would mean:

lanos...................................lacceti...................................Difrence
HP per kg: 0.105hp/kg...................................0.103hp/kg...................................-0.002hp/kg
Torque per kg: 0.145nm/kg...................................0.140nm/kg...................................-0.005nm/kg

So the lacetti is underpowered vs lanos in stats.

BUT as stated on paper also the lanos 0-100km/h (60mp/h)=11.5 and lacetti=9.5 wich is -0.8sec lacetti vs lanos... this got me stumped so wich car will accel better? are the 0-100(60) wrong? Or did the imporve the power line in lower rpm's? as for paper only tells PEAK powers anyways.

Also considering it is a 1.8 16v i geus it could deal better on weight addons in car like music instalations??

Plz some feadback soon as for there will only be 50 of these cars going to be sold in belgium so i have to decide fast :s

btw. On good note normaly i will have the car soon to set in showroom anyways.. so i will put dealerplates on em and try car out BUT considering its stock and my car is hard suspension the feeling in the lacetti will make it look faster as it is so i cant really go on that (and i dont wanna go race whit a spik and span new car yust to test it  )

The Lacetti is a great car ( I have one ) and the main difference is the low down grunt of the engine.

My Optra 5 (aka Lacetti ) comes with the 2.0L but it actually only makes 119 hp  so your 1.8L is comparable.

The Lanos only had power if you kept it up over 3500RPM where as my 2.0L engine pulls hard right from the start.

I'd say the 1.8L is a big step up from the 1.6L in overall power.... perhaps not as much as you would think on peak but down low it probably has twice the power of the 1.6L (or atleast it seems that way)
