Back pressure and back firing are two different things...Backpressure is caused by the air coming out of the cylinders flowing through the exhaust and encountering resistance i.e. small tubing, or bends (simple explanation)

Back firing is usually the result of fuel getting out of the cylinder and into the exhaust system where it then ignites and causes the bang sounds (simple explanation again) At least that is how backfiring was explained to me

what's the problem with it...too much too little?
too much can be caused by clogged cat convertors or too small pipes or crushed pipes somewhere...too little is most likely only cause of an exhaust leak (a bad one) or running an exhaust system which is too big a diameter.
