Here is some spark plug 'reading' 411
(take it or leave it)
Plugs with white spots and burned electrodes=lean
Plugs that look new=lean
Plugs wet, black electrodes=rich
Plugs with oily/sooty black electrodes=rich and oil being burned
Plugs that are corroded=rust
rust=water/coolant leaking into combustion chamber

P.S. How is your fuel system ?

does it click? or is there any sound at all?
sounds something like what my car is doing at the moment...although, i am a bit confused about something...if its not turning over at all, how would checking the plugs, coil or fuel pump/filter fix that? maybe the Daewoo is alot more different from the cars i have had in the past...i don`t know...

lilgirl is on the right track.......... you say it doesn't turn over at all..... if that is the case your problem lies with your starter and or battery... it would have nothing to do with the engine.
If it actually does go " ReR...ReR..ReR..ReR..ReR " then it is "turning over" but not "starting" and the starter is fine so you can move on to the next probable cause.
By the way...... black spark plugs mean it's running rich or it's burning oil..... lean spark plugs will look white.
cars are pretty simple..... if they don't start at all it's either
1) No Fuel
2) Too much Fuel
3) No Air
4) No spark
5) Spark at wrong time
6) Completely screwed
Lets hope its not the last one.
Fuel and spark are easy to check........ and before I go into that I will wait to see about your reply to find out if the car is actually turning over or not.

I'm assuming your talking about the MAP sensor or the IAT sensor ( MAP measures pressure and is very important, IAT measures temperature and is not that important )
In startup it won't be looking at the MAP sensor as it runs everything off preset maps..... hmmmm..... but then again those preset maps would look at the IAT to determine the temperature.
If it thought it was really cold (say -40 deg ) then it would dump too much fuel in and possibly cause it not to start.
Well..... given your selling it to a buddy... if he still has problems tell him to come online.

Wordage is important.

After 60 some years of wrenchin and riding? I have come to appreciate how important a detailed description is in getting a problem analyzed.
In my humble opinion ?
This (above) is just just a misunderstanding of terms. ( "A failure to communicate!"

Some folks are just now learning stuff that some of us have learned a while back.
So the 'new mechanics' in attempting to describe an engine that wont keep running, or runs very poorly will often use the term;
"it wont turn over"
What they really mean is; "it runs bad, wont keep running, I have to keep re-starting it, I'm running the battery down trying to keep it going" (pick any or all of the above)
Now, a 'seasoned mechanic' knows that the term; "it won't turn over" in 'mechanic-speak' really means...............
" It is a non-crank situation, this would be applicable (like for instance) if the battery were missing from the engine compartment !
Or, if there were no ignition keys !
In instances like these the correct term would be; "It won't turn over"
Zerosilence ? I am not offend at all. I just think that a open question posted to anyone that happens to read it is a much better way to get responses. Questions ask and answered in private, do not help others that may have a similar mechanical problem.
By the same token ?
I hope your not offended by this response of mine here. I too have been (and continue to be) corrected by my "mechanical-term usage"
I consider it a form of learning.

Good luck getting you car running right and sold !

Re: Wordage is important.
bad thing is that in not a "new" mechanic. ive been working on cars, as long as i can remember. when i was a kid id help my dad in the garage build performance small block chevy engines. and as long as i have been driving ive had to fix my own cars (the joy of owning a POS [till now])Spider wrote: Some folks are just now learning stuff that some of us have learned a while back.
