Well i hear about lag... i'm figuring the T3 if any will throw some lag...
This may sound like a lot ... i'm figuring 7-10 psi...
i know a Mitsu Eclipse in my one Import tuner that's pushing 16 for a low day and 21 for a race day.
so i know i'd have to do that...
I Figure about 2k for the engine and tranny... .. is this standalone and turbo setup going to push me over the 10k mark?
sounds like it... alos
I'd love for my car to have bass like this.
Magnaflow Impreza WRX catback w/o resonator and w/ silencer

6-7 psi is what most people recommend for a stock Nubi Motor. 7-10 should be do-able with proper tuning.KnightWalace wrote:Well i hear about lag... i'm figuring the T3 if any will throw some lag...

That's not even that much for the DSM engines. I know of people in my area that push well over 30 psi on the street.KnightWalace wrote:i know a Mitsu Eclipse in my one Import tuner that's pushing 16 for a low day and 21 for a race day.
10K would definately give you a very nice quality and safely designed turbo system, however I think you can do this for around $4-5K if you know where to look.KnightWalace wrote:so i know i'd have to do that...

Magnaflow, Flowmaster, and Borla makes great system with lots of deep tone. If you're going to remove the resonator make sure you buy a muffler with a silencer tip so it's not overly loud.KnightWalace wrote:I'd love for my car to have bass like this.

A turbo system should not be cheap or skimped on quality. Power costs money. When you start cutting corners, you're going to flirt with disaster.

Shaun of things
Engine, Tranny, Turbo, Ecu... so on... How much you think if i go quality.. Roughly
How much can i push it... i want to make this thing soar.... Maybe even make it rwd or awd if i have the money and find something swapable.
mind u i would like to find another car first.
If I get everything done correctly (forged) how much do u think this will push... maybe even 15 psi?
.... lemme know.

Like I said, you can really make a safe high quality setup with 10K but I think you can get that down to $6-8K if you play your cards right.KnightWalace wrote:Engine, Tranny, Turbo, Ecu... so on... How much you think if i go quality.. Roughly
Funny you should mention the AWD. The F28 transmission in EU is AWD. Now mind you that would require alot of work and add quite a bit of weight to your car.KnightWalace wrote:How much can i push it... i want to make this thing soar.... As long as you are tuned correctly the sky is the limit. A few deciding factors would be the effeciency of our heads, exhaust, and fuel and ignition systems. If these are all tuned together correctly there is no reason why you cannot boost more without worry.KnightWalace wrote:If I get everything done correctly (forged) how much do u think this will push... maybe even 15 psi?
Also, I am usually lurking around in Inviso mode online during the day.

2) How hard would it be just to make it flat our RWD?
3) 6-8 is a little steep so i might wait till i get a better job... u wait... in 2 summers i'll have the most highly tuned lanos... hehehe....

Why not stick with the stock Sunbird 2.0L turbo manifold and stock T25 turbo?
These parts can be had for less than a couple hundred bucks at your local autowrecker and the turbo can be rebuilt with a kit so that it's just like new.
12psi is probably the max you will get out of the T25 but it will do 8psi without any problems and it spools fairly quickly so there isn't too much lag.
The stock block will take more horsepower than you can afford (by the sounds of it) so I wouldn't worry about sleeving the block.
You can also drop to a lower compression forged piston by purchasing an aftermarket piston ( 8:1 or 8.5:1 ) to ensure that your car will be very reliable.
The 5spd D20 tranny from the nubira should be good enough to handle a few hundred horses without any worries.
There are multiple ECU options.... there is the Sunbird C20GET but you would either need to modify your engine to use a distributor or get some type of modified ignition system with programable ignition maps.
You could use the C20LET (european 16V 2.0L turbo) but you may have to swap all the sensors since they may or may not be compatible with the factory ECU. The easiest method is to use the nubira ECU and "hack" it so that it doesn't see boost..... there are multiple methods with the easiest using some check valves. You would need a FMU such as a rising rate fuel regulator and possibly larger injectors depending on the horsepower you want.
This will probably make it run a little rough at idle but it will go like stink in the top end.... if you want it to behave nicely at idle and make a little more power you would need to add on an aftermarket device such as an APEXI SAFC which would allow you to adjust the injector pulse width up and down at different areas in the powerband.

Another thing you might want to consider is a limited slip differencial.... I posted some pricing a while back in another area of the forum.... they aren't cheap but they will allow for way quicker times and better handling.
Nothing worse than having 250Whp and smoking a single tire every time you stomp on the gas.

Well i thought long and hard. But i decided that GsiTurbo had the best idea.
I am going to go thru the C20LET swap. That includes the F28 Tranny w/6-spd.
IT's going to be alot of money.. yes. It's what i'm saving up for..
Anyone Have the exact Specs?
GSI? Erfinder? I figure with that in the lanos. It'll be funny to fly past people and laugh when they wonder ... "What the Hell was that flying green thing". lol
I'm working on it... the specs aren't needed asap. But i just wanna get a feel for what all i'm doing before i go and do it. THANKS!

2 things
1) Why for such a Powerful Engine (BTW GSi said the one i'd get would be pushing about 280 Bhp) a 6500 rpm redline.
2) i emailed that sales associate about the woo today. I told him $3k.
He pretty much wrote back and asked me what "I'm really willing to pay"
