Anybody replace the crankshaft position sensor on a Leganza?

I just had mine done and paid $350 in labor plu $70 for the part. The car is still having problems started and the garage said I need to get the starter replaced.

It appears the starter took out the crankshaft position sensor on a hard start a couple of weeks ago because the ODB showed the crankshaft position sensor failed.

Just out of curiosity... Where is the crankshaft position sensor located in a Leganza?

there is no way the starter took out the crank sensor. the sensor is on the front left side of the block directly accross from where the oil vent tube mounts to the block. the starter is on the back right side of the motor which is litteraly the other side of the motor.
getting the sensor failure notice may have been from the starter spinning to slow.
also i'm note sure the labor fee is all that right. repalcing that is something almost anyone can do.
the only thing i can say is before you take you car in for something like that again post a question to see if we can save you some money.

the stater is another story. though it's not to bad to get to, if the fee isn't to high you might be just as will off letting them do it. the they try to give you the "run around" on the unit price have the price one for a 90 sunbird with the 2.0 sohc, or something like that, they are the part.

The mechanic was out again today since the check engine light came on and the car is still giving me problems starting. He ran a OBD check and the computer registered the crank shaft position sensor again!

The mechanic want's to check out the electrical system in the car now...

wish i was able to see the car in order to better help you! in the future if you get "check engine," lights take the car to Advace Auto. they will check and clear the code for free. as for the code i still think it's not related to the crank. somewhat of a random misfire or something like that.
without seeing the car i'd say check you ignition system. the crank sensor times the coil packs. you may have something as simple as a bad connection, burnt plug or plug wire that's not making contact. i'll almost guarantee it.

Did you check to see if your crank pully may have turned on the crank shaft throwing the triggers off.
