Camshaft replacement 1.5 sohc

Post by Polarized »

Hello all,
I'm new to the forum and have found a lot of usefull information here. However i do need some advice.
I bought my daughter a 2000 lanos with the 1.5 engine, and recently discovered 1 lobe on the camshaft has been ground away due to bad maintenance and 1 of the oil pasageways being blocked up.
I have used the how to thread on removing the timing belt but am having trouble removing the cam.
I have come to the conclusion that the head must be removed to remove the camshaft. I am hoping i'm wrong and that someone here can guide me.
thanks in advance, Gary

Thanks for the response. Did you then have to replace the head gasket or did you just tighten the head bolts back down.
