What controls the idle RPM of the engine??

Post by goldiegill »

I am trying to use my Cielo 1.5 SOHC engine for some other purpose (I want to build an electric generator out of it). I wanted to know what if I want the idle speed of my engine to be 3000 rpm. An extra load on the engine will try to decrease the rpm. I want the Idle Control Valve to keep it constant at 3000 rpm. How can it be done? Will MAP Sensor help??? I can give a controlled supply of vaccumm to MAP sensor which can keep it constant at 3000 rpm.

the idle is controlled by the IAC (Idling Air Controller) and i doubt it will be able to achive such hi idling speed... why don't just turn the butterfly a bit till you reach the desired RPM??

tampring with the idling speed won't be good for the engine as i imagen... it was not built to idle at 3000 RPM nor accelerated with the IAC.

It's better to use a little two stroke engine.

Long time since the las time I loged in and posted. Greetings. :)

if u really want the idling speed to be higher. u can always adjust the throttle body. on it is a little screw that just about holds it open when ur not pressing the accelerator down. if u get a slightly longer screw u can push it open far enough until u get the desired engine speed.

I can use the throttle to control the high speed idle rpm. But when I'll put load on the engine (through generator), the rpm will decrease as the load increases. So I want IAC to control the Idle speed at fixed 3000 rpm so that load should not decrease the rpm which will result in decrease the voltage from generator.
