Spark Plug Cables

Post by koh »

I changed my spark plug cables after the cables detached from the coil that capped on the spark plug head. Tried to clamp back the cables to the coil. Seems poor connection as the car vibrate.

The new replacement spark plug cables is orginal Daewoos parts.

After 20,000km, I tried to unplug the cables. I found that it is tight and hard. I noticed that the rubber around the connector is hard. Naturally, the rubber hardened after high temperature. It seems that the material in the spark plug cables are not high temp resistance.

During the installation of the new cables, the mechanic place high temperature grease in the spark plug holders. The purpose is to prevent the cables to be hard to pull out.

Now after 20,000km, looking at the holder, I noticed the coil that capped the spark plug head turned rusty.

I reckoned that the next change of the spark plugs, the cables will detached from the coil again.

Appreciate anyone can advise what to do to prevent this happen again.

NB : the spark plug cables are expensive.

Thanks in advance.
