pulleys

Post by woodae »

I was wondering, would an under drive pulley for a 1.5l SOHC make a hp increase, And if it would where and how could i get one made. Is it just one pulley you are replacing. I was thinking about it, I would be willing to get one made or even find one that is close, off of another car and get it machined. Has anyone attemped this before

well... the pully of the 1.5 (identical to the 1.6 pully) is pretty big as it includes the toothed ring for the crank position sensor as well, so far i havent found an UD or even a light weight pully for that engine, i only found a lighter crank pully for the 2.0 engine out of a '97 Opel Vectra.

in general UD pullys will make more power if fitted on any engine as you are fine tuning physics here and it applys to all engines... also a light weight pully will add power but not as much as the UD indeed, the benifit is you still keep the same level of functionality of the alternator, A/C and PWS.

i am not sure man... we used the pulley on a T20SED so if the U20SED & T20SED share the same pulley then it will defenatly work.

woodae: so far yes... unless i could find some equavlent part from an Opel just like i did with the 2.0... will let you know for sure if i got lucky.

kinky: here is a couple of pics for the pulley i was talking about... i don't know if that is a T20SED but it looks very much the same and the pulley is identical to the OEM one we got.
