redline different between a/t & m/t
On the m/t forenza/reno redline (and rev limiter) is at 6,500rpms but on the a/t forenza/reno redline is at 7,200rpm(or 7,300?). What the hells the point? If the power drops of at 5600rpm... it still drops off at that.
Im guessing id be safe moving my rev limiter up to 7,200rpm though. Wouldnt serve much of a point though.

Nope the a/t on the forenza is geared much much higher.. i beleive it tops out at around 205mph when the m/t tops at 150ishAudacityracing wrote:i think it's because of the gearing... the auto trannys run out of gearing before the manuals do, so to make up for the speed difference, they add revs

I have a Forenza ECU from an automatic and I'm abpit 90% sure it hit the rev limiter at the exact same time as my 5spd Optra 5 ECU ( 6500RPM )
While on the dyno I tested both the AT Forenza ECU and 5spd Optra 5 ECU to see if the Suzuki ECU made more power ( you might remember me posting about how there was zero difference between the two on the dyno despite the fact that Suzuki and GM show different power numbers)
Where the AT Forenza 7200RPM redline info come from?
Have you ever gone to a dealership to look at the AT tachometer?

This is getting weird.360 Dynamics wrote:If I recall properly, Optra 5-spd with Forenza auto ECU had a redline at 6250....as opposed 6500rpm on 5-spd Optra ECU. This is when Chris and I were testing both ECUs on a dyno.
Tom
What year was that ecu anyways?

Ya... I'd imagine it's a 2004...... the engine only has 9000miles on it.
It's been a while since we did the dyno testing...... the easiest way to check it is for me to go outside and drop in the Fornenza ECU and test the redline.
Be back in a few minutes.

Good memory Tom..... your right..... 6250RPM is the Rev limiter on the 2004 Suzuki Forenza automatic ECU.... I just tested it 3 times in 1st gear.
Then I put the 5spd Optra 5 ECU back in and the Rev limiter was bang on 6500RPM.
So....... I really have to wonder what is going on here as well.
Have one of these guys that have a 7250RPM redline take a picture of their tachometer.... I'd like to see some proof.
