Another thing to think about when digesting this math is the material out of which the exhaust is made of.

Aluminum is really nice and light but it transfers heat really good which results in a major cooling down of the exhaust gasses.

Iron stays hot and keeps the exhaust temperature very even but it's very heavy.

Titanium is great but $$$$$$ $$$$$$

thanks for info....appreciate it............so i guess I neeed to go out and buy some exhaust wrap.......i just don't want to redo my entire exhaust like my new mechanic is telling me......it was very costly.....I rather just spend 50 bucks in header wrap....get rid of the cat and replace with resonator, if i can obtain the same performance.....

Its better if you remove the CAT...

Also i read an article the other day (i really dont remember where and why) it said that is better to have a slightly bigger exhaust when running NOS

one more thing

what about backpressure.....is it true that a car needs backpressure to run at its optimum....if I have the gas to hot through too big of a pipe exiting so fast....wouldnt the engine not have any backpressure???

Backpressure is a restriction and restrictions require the engine to "push" the exhaust through the pipe.

Restriction = Loss of horsepower

The best design is to have no pipes at all but it's really really loud (I ran my car with no exhaust manifold for a few seconds when doing some testing)

Plus there are several problems like carbon monoxide getting inside your car.

Removing your cat in australia is not only illegal, but stupid.

The FIRST time you get pulled over by a defect station you'll be busted..that means your car is off the road, you gotta go adding a cat back in, getting it engineered, taking it to the RTA to get tested on an EPA meter again, THEN paying the fines before you can drive your car again.

Worth the risk?

Only if you're an idiot.

You can get JUST as much performance and sound out of a GOOD exhaust system while keeping the cat.

Not to mention the fact that they now have road-side dB testers on major roads here to test exhaust noises, and if you're over the limit? yep.. you guessed it.. ANOTHER defect.

People here wonder why they get harassed by the cops and why modified car drivers have a bad reputation, while at the same time doing stuff that's illegal yet totally and utterly useless. If you wanna break the law, make it worth it and do some PROPER performance mods *cough-rotorconversion-cough* :)

Yeah, yeah...

If you don't want to remove your cat don't do it but do not say bullshit like "the removing of Cat doasynt give any performance please....
