Are you sure that the Lanos has a governor? Because I have done 120mph. I have a 01' 5spd Lanos Sport with a few mods.

My 2000 Nubira CDX Wagon 2lt 16v regularly makes 121mph on GPS
Max. achieved on a very long downhill stretch on a motorway was 128mph, once again on GPS. Though, i think that was divine intervention that made me back off 5 miles before seeing a Patrol car! Surprisingly stable at high speeds.

the lanos has no governor whatsoever... you can push the engine as much as you can untill you either hit the rev limiter or the EGR kicks in.

I used to cruize around 105mph with my 2000 Lanos 1.5 SOHC and there was still more available... I just didn't feel that safe going over that speed... the car started to feel light on it's feet.

Surprizingly I haven't tried to top out my Optra 5 yet.... I've been somewhere in the range of 105MPH to 110MPH on some of my long distance trips... but I've never pushed it to the limit.

Since its much cooler where you live id say you could hold it at 130mph.

On warm days i can hold it with 5 ppl in the car and A/C full blast at 107mph... on cold days i can hold it at 115ish

Much cooler? I guess it depends on the time of year.

For you a "cold" day is probably the same as a "hot" day in most locations in north america. 8)

We are at a higher altitude... 2192 feet above sea level so the air is less dense than it would be at sea level.

So.... the difference in temperature is probably offset by the difference in altitude.

Where in Arizona do you live??

I just noticed that parts of Arizona are as high as 4000ft and as low at 145 feet above sea level.

My Lanos must just be weird because as soon as I get up to 110 the tranny shifts to the final gear and my speed just drops. Feels almost like something is cutting off the gas flow.

i hope that was the fine and not the speed  speed wise you did great ticket wise you might lose your license and/or have some high ass insurance. i'd go to court and say that your car is really a daewoo and its impossible to go that fast :D and say you might have been goin like 105 or 110 at the most. so it lightens the load a bit.
