I want to know information about how our engines reach a limited revolution per min. old cars have no limiters I guess so when you floor the gas when in nutral the engine will rise its rev. to reach a dangerous rev . so if you continue flooring the gas the engine will be blown!
the modern cars have a limit so when flooring the gas the engine reches a limited rev and start to shake & the engine stay in a range of 500 rpm(eg from 6000-6500 rpm).
my question is what make the engine do that?
. and how can I raise my engine revolutions range ?
. what Parts needed to do that?
. will I need to replace the ECU?
. what are the benifits of raiseng this range?
. what is your suggestion to raise my cars performance( recommended parts to do the job & if it is good to replace the original parts with a stock parts of another cars (eg bigger cars or better performance cars like nissans , hondas, & toyotas)
I want to read the forum's pro & experts' posts

Rev Limiter question

their is no benefits whatsoever from increasing your rev band... you already start losing power past 5500 RPM or so which makes a 7000 RPM limit absolutly usless.
to increase the rev limit you need to replace your valves springs with stronger ones to avoid free floating then you will have to replace you cam shaft bearings to cope with the stronger springs and maybe even replace the whole cam shaft not to mention that you will have to reprogram you ECU or something which no one i know ever did, maybe a DIS system or something can mess with your limiter but those things cost alot... in a shorter version you will spend a shit load of money for nothing.
better spend your money on something more effecent, if i had the money i would drop a 2.0 engine in my car or at least a 1.6... the rev limiter thing won't do anything for you at all.
