ok, he replied to me that the flange doesn't reach the stock one only because they sell racing cat/pipes that take that difference out. So the header + cat/pipe would reach the stock location.

He wants to see a picture of the oil pan though... so I'll have to take a pic today, and I'll post it here as well.

Ok guys, here's some pictures that show that the header doesn't work...

As you can see, the stock header is tilted to the left to avoid the oil pan, this header does not, it goes straight.

oil pan i have no pictures, where you can see the differences.

the header will never fit to the 1.5 and 1.6 engine.they have different headers. if they would say 1.4 and 1.5...that will fit...but not with the 1.6.

tschau norman
norman,

Just noticed that you fixed the pictures... I'd like to know which version of a Lanos is an Old Version, and which version of a Lanos is a New Version.

It looks like I definately have the new one, and the header is for the old one...

So do you know what those diagrams correspond to?

Thanks!!

Looks like I'm talking to myself now.... well he said he'll give me a refund. One thing though, he better not make me pay for shipping to Korea, cause I wasn't the one responsible for non-fitment issues...

i know that on the website it had stated that it was for the 1.5 litre lanos only, thats the reason i never bought it.

also if you go to HVE's website(i think its not really there anymore though) they had said before that it was for the manual not the automatic.

another reason i never bought it.

the sharkracing was just a duplicate of the HVE header

I have a manual... on sharkracing website it stated that it fits 1.5/1.6l also it said that best results are seen on an automatic...

Weird stuff, but obviously it doesn't fit 1.6l manual as we found out for sure. Good header though :(

I'll check the situation below my car to see if it would clear an automatic. From my memory I don't have that "lump" in the oil pan, (1999 Lanos A/T), but I haven't seen the underside of my car in weeks.

BTW: It sucks royal ass that the header doesn't fit, I was looking forward to you telling us the results. Hopefully there won't be a problem to return it.

Yeah, well they said to ship it over to them via ocean freight so it'll be cheap and they will refund 380 + shipping to them. They say it should exceed $30 usd.... hmmm... don't know about that.

It's such a good header, looks sooooo nice, soooo shiny... that's just too bad. Well, I'm still doing the springs, shortshifter, and a new muffler (cause mine is dented and I don't really like the shape of it... too big the tip is like 4.5"). Got the timing belt done though!!

Is there any chance to modify the existing oil pan to get one that gives clearance? Maybe to get one of the ones it does fit?

Does the header fit the block or is it all wrong??

I'm pretty positive you can't modify the current oil pan, but not sure about getting a different one (don't feel like going through all this). But the header does fit the block.
