Mechanically, yes. But two engines use different engine management system. Nubi uses an older AC-Delco system, while Forenza uses Delphi.

Which OBDII "Flavor" does the newer Delphi ECU uses? ISO, KWP2000, CAN or VPVW? I'm looking to get an OBDII Scantool for my computer but I need to know first what is compatible with my car.

I've seen somewhere that the AC-DELCO was using the KWP2000 protocol, but is it still true?

Well.... if you were getting a new engine from GM you probably wouldn't get all the engine management stuff so you would simply have to swap over the sensors from your T20SED to the new U20SED.

I'd have to imagine that rewiring the entire vehicle to work with the Delphi system wouldn't be worth the time.

As far as the type of OBDII I really don't know yet..... I haven't looked at it yet.

I'm starting some research now..... here is an interesting link....

http://www.cardlabs.com/CardLabs_obd2.htm

Hmmm..... it looks like there are three diferent systems in use with the U20SED.

The three data link connector schematics show the following names:

MR140 , HV240 , SIRIUS

Which one is in use here in Canada is unknown to me... it doesn't say anything.

All three types use pin #7 as the single connection to the ECU and TCM

I can't seem to pull up a picture of the data link connector.

Hmmm.... the manual says that a 70000081 Tech II Scan Tool is to be used for diagnostics.

Here is another intersting link....

If I figure anything out I will let you know.... and I hope you will let us know if you find out anything further about the Delphi system
