Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
Hello!
I have found a peir of new performance cams for Opel X20XEV engine with a relatively good price. The advertised duration is 270? and lift is 11.08mm. The Nubi will be converted to individual throttle body setup and I feel it will be happy with the cams.
Now my question is this: Is it 110% that X20XEV cams will just slide into Nubi I 2.0 16v engine (I can provide engine identification number if neccessary). The Nubi was bought in 2003, but is an older model...
Many thanks,
Nick

I did have in mind to look for those numbers tonight...nickRP wrote:I went to the local GM service to check and I also posted a question on Opel forum... So the answer was YES, X20XEV cams will fit right into Nubi with X20SEd engine...
Hopefully this will be of some use to others.
With regards,
Nick
now THATS some great news...

Re: Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
The X20XEV is a higher compression U20SED that is in the forenza and reno's and also the T20SED in the 99-02 nubira's doe1s anyone know what the specs of the X20XEV cams are im looking in to making a 10:1-11:1 compression ratio motor that will work on 87 octane gas that will get approximately 150 horsepower
Re: Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
87 octane :s what the hell?
high compression with low octane fuel WILL melt your pistons...
QED lists specs for cams
but seriously, if you can afford cams + tuning you can afford to run it on premium or at least E10...

Im looking in higher power (150 HP) but trying to keep it 87 or 91 octane gasoline if possible the U20SED has 9.6:1 compression ration already so 10:1 wouldn't hurt it.
Re: Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
do you have E10 available?
how much extra is at least 95 octane... a few cents?
if you raise compression you WILL introduce detonation at such low octanes and detonation WILL melt your pistons
if you want to raise compression, you have to factor in the higher price of premium fuel
also, how were you planning to raise compression?
please, dear god, don't say thicker gaskets or head spacers

Re: Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
If i port my cylinder head and intake manifold and also port the throttle-body and put higher lift cams like 10mm lift with the 10:1 compression ratio and also rebuild the engine block with performance bearings and knife-edged crank-shaft would that give it more power with using 87octane gasoline or maybe 91 octane
Re: Urgent advice needed: X20XEV performance cams in Nubi I
but WHY!!!??!!
lol
you would make so much power using higher octane BECAUSE YOU WOULD BE ABLE TO TUNE IT TO UTILISE THE DETONATION RESISTANCE!!

If i use to high of an octane rating it will hurt the motor and the knock sensor keeps the detonation in the right order to advance or retard the ignition
