1.6L Lanos Headers question

Post by AcingTeam »

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy new headers for my car. Which brand is better and where can I find it (I also don't want to spend too much)?

I'm looking at this one: http://www.sharkracing.com/acecart/bin/ ... =010703000
Will it fit my 1.6L Lanos Hatchback? Because someone said that 1.5 and 1.6 are totally different. If it will fit, will it require any modifications, or is it just a bolt-on?

Thanks :)

For what it's worth...

I had emailed these guys about the headers they offer and they did reply back to say that they would fit the 1.6 Lanos. That was the extent of the message though, no mention of having to do any modifications. They have since changed their website to include both the 1.5 and 1.6 litre engines.

I had read your thread prior to posting this... I think you just messed up somewhere in the process of purchasing...

The shape of 1.5 8v exhaust ports is like a perfect circle... on the 1.5/1.6 16v (same head) is oval...

i have the diagrams but i dont have an scanner...

:(

here's a race spec header from SBD (a 16v vauxhall tunning company) for the 1.5, 1.6

Yes... if all the parts from the C/X16XE Opel/Vauxhall series are compatible why not the Performance headers... from the diagrams i've seen both engine are the same...

the main diference between opel/vauxhall engines is the engine management...

that header is from SBD... a vauxhall 16v tunning specialist...

diff

Post by damian007vk »

1.5 lanos headers and 1.6 lanos headers are diff. I believe in 1.6 5spd and 1.6 auto headers are diff...as the manual ones wont fit in auto ones because of the spacing....however...I am almost 100 percent sure that 1.5 and 1.6 headers are diff...in both hole and bolt pattern...the set of headers I have now which are 4-2-1 I bought were made by bosal australia for the rally lanos' they have there that were 1.5. and it was completely diff...i had to chop off the flange and make new one....i think www.hve.com.au also has set of headers....check with your local high-end turbo shop...i am sure they can make u nice custom set for about 450
.......i have mines that i will selling in the classifieds section...however when I removed them to take measurements for turbo manifold I am gonna be making...i noticed a couple of hairline cracks in one place on the header...so I dont know if I should repair this first and then sell, or sell as is, and have buyer repair..I will be posting pics soon.

Ok... Im talking about manual engines then... thats a bit odd because our headers and stock exhaust systems usually go down the left side of the engine (looking when your're standing in front of the car) and the transimison is on the right side... so i dont know why it should not work...

And also there's a 1.5 16v... i asume when you're saying 1.5 is the 1.5 8v engine... so... (again)... the head is totally different from the 16v... so like you said the 1.5 8v headers are tottaly different from the 16v versions..

sadly enhough i dont my friends all drive daewoo or honda dno any corsa GSI people hell thats a rare car here now tbh all are rusted to hell and put aside already

best thing i can do is get a exhuast gasket and compare em if those are the same i know atleast for sure the flange will fit the tubing well dno about that maybe i need to adyust that who knows.

ALso Efrain when you say tube goes down left side of engine i hope your saying it wrong lmao is this looking at car from frontside or from backside (as we do it in belgium) wondering about this as for uk cars have steering wheel on other side but never noticed engines having difrent placements?

A serious question. My Aveo is powered by a 1.4L DOHC unit. Engine code is F14D3. Any chance that performance headers from an Opel X14XE be compatible?
