the 2.0 engine from daewoo will fit... or the opel/vauxhall with the same engine code

keep in mind you need to loose your AC and powerstearing then though... unless you want to make a custom engine mount

the C20SED will not run if there is no A/C because everything runs off the timing belt, so if you install a C20SED out of a leganza you may be able to keep A/C and power steering

Are the pistons damaged from the valves slapping them? If not, just replace the head or even better, have the head repaired if possible. While it's getting repaired have it ported along with the intake manifold and shaved slightly.

At this point install an Emanage so you can modify your fuel maps to take advantage of the port work and you'll be around 140hp assuming intake and exhaust mods.

If the block is in good shape, you will basically have a new engine that's ready for another 100,000 miles.

This is what I would do.

Too bad your from Ontario otherwise GsiTurbo (360Dynamics) and I could help you fit a 2.0L into your Lanos.

Do you have a sedan or a sport hatchback?

How much do you want to spend on the engine replacement/repair?

I know where I can get a 2.0L 16V fairly cheap.... and I also have access to a 2.2L 16V.

We could also install a 2.0L 8V Turbo if you want.

It all depends on how much money you want to spend.

It's also possible to do a 2.0L or 2.2L 16V Turbo... but for the money the 2.0L 8V Turbo engine is the cheapest swap.

I've been looking around for a damaged 1.6L in Canada so I might be interested in your engine if you want to get rid of it.

I'd also be interested in purchasing your car if you decided it's too much money or too much of a hassle to replace the engine.

let me know what you want to do and we will see if we can help you out.

A/C o fthe timing belt?????!!!! i have never seen a car that has the airconditioning pump on the timing belt?... im sure you must be mistaken the AC runs off the multy-vstrap and there are belts that fit the 2.0 without the AC and powersteering (old opel belts)

the auto electrician said it all ran off a common belt. it may have been the alternator belt, but either was, the car wont run without the compressor being there.

Hi Dave

I'm in Peterbourogh

i got a used 1.6L at 23K droped in with all manifolds ect on it.

will be looking at rebuilding it porting the head and intake manifold ect and maybe a turbo and electronics as well later on if its worth the time

or use it for spare parts ect....

not sure yet

its a 2000 four door Woo hoooo !

been a good car till this problem with the timeing belt

for your info here is the pic of the belt. :x

http://www.thinkingoutsidethebox.ca/lanos/

i did have it changed out but looks to old for that very dry and stiff
it has delaminated.

Not sure the dealer changed it out when i got it done with other stuff.
will be taking it to a few places for a 2nd opinion.

rounding off changed at 100K intead of 96K and blew at 57K did here from on poster they went from 90K to 60K for change out but i did not hear about that till i read a posting in timing belts ect.

have a good day eh!

How much did you end up paying for the 1.6L ???

I'm somewhat confused..... so are you saying that you left the timing belt until 100K and it blew? or are you saying that you had the timing belt changed and the new one blew?
