Which fuel pump Lanos 1.5 ???

Post by MaXiMiZoR »

I searched around for a new fuel pump and I always come up with 2 different pumps (one around 100€ and another around 200€).

How do I know which pump is suitable without taking apart my whole car?
My Lanos is from 2002 and has chassisnr. KLAT F08Y11B674024.

The expensive one:

Are you sure it's a defective fuel pump and not relay?

In case of fuel pump I would change small motor only. I found a cheaper one.

The car still drives ok but sometimes it struggles when you press down the gas pedal. I don't think the relay is bad otherwise it wouldn't drive at all.
Seems like when you push the throttle, there is a moment that the Fuel Pressure Regulator switches from giving low pressure to giving high pressure on the injectors. At that moment sometimes it stutters and the engine holds in a lot. When I release the gas and press it down again it most of the time goes well again. Very weird. Idle is also not as stable as it used to be.

You mean: the smaller cheaper one is a actually part of the other one (with floater)?
Isn't it like: the one is for models untill year x and the other for models after year x?

Good price also: http://www.autoonderdelengigant.nl/?p=18&s=&opt=2&id=30
Why does it say: "new type" ?

Oh I see, the little pump sits inside a pump-housing...
Thanks for the picture.

How do I get to the fuel-pump? Do I have to take the gastank out of the car or is the pump accessible without dissasembling the car?

There's a hole under rear seat to reach the fuel pump. And maybe a bolt or two to remove prior lifting seat on the Lanos.

Don't forget to relieve fuel pressure before disconnecting hoses by: remove fuel pump fuse or relay and try to start engine.

I don't think that's very important. I removed my FPR also without relieving pressure on the fuel line. It sprays a bit of fuel around and that's it. But thanks for the idea :-)

I removed my fuel pump today and it looks like this:

Pump states: ERJ286 (a.k.a. E10005, ERJ197, ERJ240, ERJ241, ERJ415)

This pump is used in all the following cars:

-DAEWOO LANOS, NUBIRA, LEGANZA
-CITROEN BERLINGO, XSARA, PICASSO
-PEUGEOT 206, 406, 607, PARTNER
-RENAULT ESPACE III
-ROVER 200, 25, 400, 45, COUPE
-CHRYSLER VOYAGER (from: 08.84 - 03.01)
-DODGE CARAVAN, NEON

Now I just have to find one quickly...

Same situation here when I ordered my Sharkracing front strutbar... It had to come from South-Korea and I paid an extra 15€ to the customs for inspecting my package :-(
