I've just been having a browse through the Lanos service manual, and noticed that the 1349cc sohc camshaft intake lift is 5.61mm, and the 1498cc sohc intake lift is 6.12mm
and they both have an exhaust lift of 6.12mm as well.
would there be any noticable advantage in fitting a camshaft with about 0.5mm lift difference to the 1.3 8v? considering I've already got a 4-2-1 exhaust, de-cat, short-ram intake and bigger injectors.
input from anyone who knows something about camshafts get in touch! thanks

Cargo cultism is a beautiful thing as long as you never fall for it.

I'd check the timing of them both first.
Lift is one thing, then duration, then overlap....
Another thing to think about is the pulley wheel. Is the indent pin at the same place on both of the cams.

Yes, everything is exactly the same... as is with the majority of GM's short-block 8 valve engines. Just that extra half-a-mil lift.RichieOzzie wrote:I'd check the timing of them both first.

Be sure the pin for the pulley is EXACT.
Notch-wise, and where the pin says it is. It may be sync'd up with the second cylinders, and not the first.
Get this wrong, and you can do serious damage to the engine.
