Thermostat

Post by broken »

If I take off the thermostat housing to check my thermostat, should I still be able to use the same gasket ring?

theoretically speaking you should replace any used gasket with a new one whenever you take off the parts using this gasket... if the gasket is not cooked or cracked and seems to be in good condition then you might be able to reuse it again without developing leaks

why not replace it.... it costs about .45 us cents. I did mine when my plastic thermostat went a few weeks ago. I got the metal housing one. the problem was finding the right gasket. I would do the new one. it's not worth not doing it for a couple of cents, and it's easy to get to.
