Lanos 1.6 jolting at low rpm

Post by dixy »

Hello to all!

I recently bought a Lanos 1.6 SX. I like it very much. A few days ago the check light lighted and I took it to a mechanic. He cleared the EGR valve and detached battery conector and it was gone. After that it lit up again and the car started jolting at low rpm (eg. when it reaches 60km/h ang goes at that speed constantly starts jolting). When accelerating it goes away and runs smoothly. One of the gaskets needs replacing (as diagnosed by mechanic) and I saw that the sparkplugs and cables were oily the other day.

Can anyone give additional advice?

Thanks in advance!
Many regards!

Hi,
Probably the valve cover gasket is leaking. Fix this first than clean out plugs and cables. Don't allow oil to drip into cylinders if you remove sprak plugs as you may have a hydraulic lock.

Hi Daniel, thanks for reply.
Unfortunately the valve cover gasket was replaced today but the problem remained. I also cleaned sparks. At about 2000 to 2500 rpms, (when I take foot of gas pedal and let it slow down from higher rpms) it jolts again.
The mechanic repaired the gasket but probably did not drive it to see what I am talking about.
It almost seems that it has some firing issue because a few times at idle the engine sort of choked but normalized in a few seconds.

hav you replace the air filter, also get some new spark plugs( if not already done so) check the gap on the spark plugs as well

also you might need to replace your HT leads,
Daewoo Lanos SX,
1.6 16v DOHC,
