Lanos High Idle

OK guys need help here.

2002 Lanos Hatchback 1.6L 106K miles.

Symptom: High idle

Corrective action: removed, cleaned Idle control valve. Performed relearn procedure per manual. No change.
Disconnected battery, let sit for >5 minutes, reconnected battery. Corrected problem for about 2 weeks.
Replaced Idle control valve, performed relearn procedure. No change.

Still have high idle. I found on another forum where the ECU needs to be remapped (reflashed?). No one here in the states close to me will even touch a Daewoo.

Any suggestions?

If you cleaned the throttle body + IAC and could not perform idle relearn I would first make sure your TPS signal is good. Idle relearn will never be able to be completed if the TPS signal is irratic or unstable, as the PCM thinks the throttle valve is opening and closing constantly, and never sees a closed throttle value (or idle).

Check your TPS, and also check you dont not have any vaccum leaks. If all checks well, then you will need to reflash or replace the PCM...

I will check the TPS this weekend. I dont suspect the TPS is the problem as it is only a year old, but I suppose it needs to be ruled out just the same. I have already checked for vacuum leaks and have found none. Can you tell me which Scantool I need or where I could send my ECM (manual transmission) to get it reflashed? No one in this area (SE GA) will touch my car.

Well to program the PCM you need to take the car with it. I do not know of anyone who does factory reflashes of the pcm through ship order etc... Though there might be search...

Any modern day scan tool can program as long as the tech has the programmer module for his scan tool.

hopefully when u say u "checked" for leaks it wasn't just a visual? x.x
i would then also suggest the TPS and/or the idle-ing screw if its cable operated. may never know who touch's things under the hood.
next would to be check EGR and/or clean it. just incase it's stuck open and the ECU doesn't want to play nice and do a CEL for it.
