It sounds like you will probably need to get the head machined flat.

A head gasket is $20.93 at www.gm-car-parts.com

You will need to do a full cooling system flush/change and an oil change to get all the wrong fluids out of where they should not be.

Hope there is no more damage than that.

22 thousanths shaved will result in a 9.88:1 compression ration. it will also retard your timing 1.8degrees

to shave and pressure check mine was $90. Make sure you take off the Cams, EGR valve ect before you give it to them, or they'll charge to take it all off and back on

Also make sure to remove the valves and everything. I've seen horror stories of people who left the valves in and got back half the valves...

If you get 22thou shaved (which is a lot, really) the planer wont touch the valves. They wont hit the pistins, none of that. I JUST did this over the last two weeks. I had some problems afterwards, but it was my own fault, not replacing the intake manifold gasket while i had it apart (do that)

Yea, well mine LOOKED fine. Dont make the same mistake I did, or you will be back to sqaure one. As far as I can tell, the head needs to come off to get the intake manifold off

No the head doesn't need to come off. I removed mine and put it back on without taking the head off. You just need to get an swivel socket set like seen here: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/D ... umber=5501

But now taking into consideration that he needs to remove the head anyways, yes take the head off first as it'll be easier.

Thats still over my head... i don't know how to put it back together so i think i'm going to let them take it apart. They are really good friends of my parents so they do good work on my car. Technically they are the only people who have ever completely fixed my cars problems.
