Daewoo Leganza Issues.
Ok so my mom drives a daewoo leganza and the other day she came home and said it was steaming and she thought it was over heating...after taking a quick look at it I found out it was over heating but there was a coolant leak that was dripping onto the cat and exhaust causing it to steam up....then i took a look and put more coolant in the res but it drains out of there pretty quickly....However it does seem to reach a point and the leak dies down drastically. She said her temp gauge is only up a little bit higher than it use to be. The engine bay is also covered in oil crap its a complete mess.
The only thing i can think of putting all of that together is something with the head gasket but I am not the techiest of car people so i would like some advice on what to look for and what could be wrong.
Thank You!

Re: Daewoo Leganza Issues.
check the water pump.
the temp guage won't work if there is no coolant in the system,

So I think I may have figured it out but I am not sure.
Is the thermostat located between the engine and the intake mani?

Re: Daewoo Leganza Issues.
Well it looks like replacing the thermostat fixed the overheating issues but the car still runs pretty rough and there is a lot of white smoke kinda stuff coming out of the exhaust.
am i thinking correctly when i think its the head gasket? given the oil everywhere and the exhaust issues....i haven't noticed any mixing of oil and coolant tho.

Re: Daewoo Leganza Issues.
you might just need a new valve cover gasket. what will happen is the rubber O-rings go bad and allow oil to pool around the spark plugs, wehre it will eventually seap into the cylinders.
Re: Daewoo Leganza Issues.
lets hope thats the issue, cause if it will suck fucking around with the timing if the gasket is broken where the cylinders aredaewoomofo wrote:you might just need a new valve cover gasket. what will happen is the rubber O-rings go bad and allow oil to pool around the spark plugs, where it will eventually seap into the cylinders.
Re: Daewoo Leganza Issues.
ok so there is oil pooled up above the sparks.
but there is coolant in the oil and crap.
would that be caused by the valve gasket?
If its the head gasket is there anywhere for me to look on what all i need to do??
