'00 Lanos leaking oil valve cover gasket

Post by Puddle31 »

Has anyone ever replaced their valve cover gasket on a 1.6 Lanos? Is it a do-it-yourselfer job? I'm not terribley mechanically inclined, but I can turn a wrench and it appears to be something I can get at. Also, can you get the gasket from Daewoo on line? thanks in advance.

You can get the gasket at parts stores and it's a pretty simple install. just make sure to use a torque wrench and don't overtighten the bolts.

Thank you Jimmy. I think I am going to give it a try when it warms up. I will try to borrow a torque wrench somewhere, but it looks like something I can do.

thanks!!

Try to get a low-scale torque wrench. Cover bolts need to be torked at 89 Lb-in only (10Nm). Don't mix units like I did once with Lb-ft  .
