oil leakage

Post by mohsen »

i have an oil leakage between the cam shaft housing bottom surface
and the cylinder head top surface (no gasket between them)

is there any solution to stop this oil leakage (without loosing the 10 bolts of cylinder head and put silicon betweeen the 2 surfaces)

can i use external sealer like ABRO products:

Thermometal
1-Withstands Temperatures Up to 2400°F (1316°C)
2-Seals Joints and Cracks in Steal or Iron
3-Eliminates the Needs for Welding or Blazing

there should be a gasket between them. if there isnt the only option is to remove the valve cover ("cam shaft housing" as you called it) adn install a gasket and also as a good measure put some RTV silicone in there too

moshen,

Please always specify the vehicle/engine.
If you are speaking over the SOHC engine there is only gasket maker between sufaces.
The product you want to try is intendend for iron & steel. No mention about light alloy. Try on a scrap piece of this metal first.
If the leak is due to pressure built-up in your engine you are going to have a leak at another place.
