:D

...choosing the right cam is somewhat involved and there is a lot of sience involved and I'm not 100% in the know, but I'm doing everything I can to know as much as possible.

...that being said I'll pass on some basic things to consider. the higher lift and/or duration will increase the power as well as the RPM range, it will also fatigue the valve springs faster to. one thing that I can't say for sure yet is how much lift or duration the factory pistons will handle. the company that makes these cams race an Astra G and I'm quite sure they have tested it but I will have to ask what they found. If I where spending the money, I would go as big as my set-up and wallet would allow.

I would consider if you plan to ever go turbo or if you want to stay N/a for quite a while. If you think you may want to upgrade to turbo than I would put off the cams and work on upgrades that will benefit both options. you could go with adj. cam gears, UD Pulley, light flywheel among other things.

Is there a solution to use the cam gears with the magnetic pickup on the Optra?

I will have to get the specs compared, it looks like the lift is measured at different locations. I'll work on that and hopefully have the numbers for you tomorrow.

as for the cam gears, I have yet to order a set but I have seen the pics and I have to good solution for the problem. now it's just a mater of testing it. I'me very confident that it will work and I'll do whatever it takes to add the cam pick-up.
