Oil light on. Help!

I have a 2001 Leganza with 79k miles. Driving along the oil light came on and there was a ticking noise. Stopped, added a little oil up to the mark and continued to drive. The ticking noise went away for a few minutes then came back. The engine still ticks and the oil light is still on. The car is not being driven though. Any ideas or suggestions?

is there any blue-ish smoke coming from the tail pipe? you might just have a bad oil leak.

You have a weak oil pressure.

I would:

-Try fresh oil & new filter.
-Check that the relief pressure valve on oil pump is free to move.
-Check pick-up tube & prefilter in oil pan. Order new gasket

-Change oil pump
