supercharging a T20SED, can it be done?

Post by Tyrant »

Has anyone tried this??? or for that matter is it even possible???

i want to mod my Epica (L4 2.0L) but unfortunately i cant find any manufacturer who has produced anything worth while for my engine.
in the long run i want to go ahead with a forced induction solution but has this ever been done??

(edit- any mods, could you please move this to the right forum as i put it in the engine forum by mistake.. sorry :()

Sure you could put on a centrifugal supercharger just like a turbo.

If you ask me... a turbo will allways kick a superchargers ass in efficency and power.

Sure you have a lag with a turbo but if your driving the ass off the car the turbo should be spooled up all the time giving you maximum power.

Another advantage of a turbo is that if you want to drive "nice" and shift very low in the power band ( under 3000rpm) you will get better fuel economy.

A supercharger is on from idle to redline... unless you put an electric clutch in there.

But this is not cheap..... the supercharger can suck more than 10hp in certain situations so you need a very expensive clutch if it's not going to be on all the time.

thanks for your reply bro :) and i agree with all that that u have said. but the fact that turbos dont perform well in hot climates has put me off. and it gets pretty hot around here, as high as 47-49C in the summer.

now heres a question i forgot to ask earlier if i were to put in any form of forced induction is it a must to change my automatic transmission?? also how can i know whats the max torque or hp that the trans can handle.
