plug wire question

Post by agent smith »

ok, so i cant get new wires till friday. my current wire in plug 1 is acting up. see, the end that connects to the wire (the metal end inside the robber boot) is slowly working its way higher up into the boot, causing a CEL code of p0301, or valve 1 misfire, to occur. i had this exact same issue last year around this time, relpaced wires and issue was gone. my question is, since i cannot get wires till friday, is it possible to remove about 1/4th to 1/2" of rubber (as needed) so that the metal end is closer to the end and it actually makes full contact with the spark plug? is this safe? thanks for the replies!

I don't see why that wouldn't work.
It shouldn't be any different than if you had cutom wires cut to length and just made them fit as necessary.
