Re: Valve train trouble - please help.
Hi Thanks for the pix My HG looks as if its correct when compared with the 1.5 OHC I have a suspicion that the guy who changed the gasket was an amateur mechanic (as indeed am I) It was done at 39000 miles and now reading a little over 48000 camshaft is scored but not that badly. I am more concerned...

Valve train trouble - please help.
Lanos 1.4 SOHC year 2000. Bought this recently as a none runner. Started first crank, ran a few seconds, then died. I have wasted a week thinking this was a controls problem. Primary fault and last owners reason for selling was "engine starts and runs OK for a few seconds then dies" Car very recentl...

Re: Lanos 2k 1.4 starts then dies NEW
Hi Daniel Thanks for your response. I'm guessing the drawing shown in your post is from the DOHC engine ? On my 1.4 SOHC lanos, the toothed wheel is behind the crancshaft pulley at the bottom of the engine (directly in-line with the camshaft pulley). It is not solid as shown in the manual. It has sl...

Sorry folks I forgot to say - I HAVE searched in all the related posts and have not found much that relates to my problem. Tomorrow I plan to check fuel flow somehow (I have some pressure gauges and hope I can make an adaptor). I also want to remote start the engine while I check for spark - but nee...

Re: water pump - adjustment
Hi MMamdouh Thanks very much for your quick and informative reply. I have just come back in the house from still struugling with this and had decided I had to take of the back TB casing - The manual though shows the rear casing in place in the illustration where it identifies the 3 water pump clampi...

water pump - adjustment - update
Spent more time this afternoon and have come to the conclusion that the oil pump needs to come off before I can get to the last water pump bolt - can anyone confirm this ? A lot of the stuff I've looked at relates to the DOHC engine which is quite different to my SOHC. The manual does not seem to me...
