E stands for "euronorm", earlier standard for exhaust emissions in europe. The E16SE uses Bosch Jetronic four point injection and distributor ignition. The C16SE uses Siemens Multec electronic injection and direct ignition. Otherwise the engines are the same.

Actually it?s based on E16SE, earlier model of C16SE. The camshaft and valves are stantard. Head is slightly ported.
