I wouldn't think it is the head gasket as it was just replaced 75 miles ago and the adjacent cylinder is fine on the compression test. I am leaning toward build up on the valves or the valve itself. THe car runs fine just throws the code when the engine is cold. I might just drive it until it turns ...

Compression test done. Results...#4=200psi,#3=195psi,#2=200psi,#1=100psi. That test explained alot. I should have done it to start with. I don't want to pull the head again so I guess it is time to sell and hope for the best.

Timing has been checked several times and was good. Valve cover gasket has been replaced when head gasket was (about 75 miles ago) (not 75K miles but 75 miles) Black only on the electrode part.

Swapped the injector and the spark plugs didn't do a bit of good. Just about ready to give up on it.

I also changed the coil pack yesterday but this didn't help. When the engine is cold you can hear the misfire if standing behindthe car at the muffler. I pulled #1 sparkplug and it was black with soot. Somebody give me an idea of what to try next.

I have a 1999 Leganza that I just replaced the head gasket , wires, plugs, etc. The car runs good now with no hesitation or anything. The problem I have is when I first start the car after about 2 minutes I get code P0301 (which is misfire on #1 cylinder). If I clear the code and drive the car the r...
