what car? I have changed my thermostat easily without having to take anything else apart. I have a Lanos.

when you changed the oil perhaps you were just not seeing it on the dipstick. new oil is pretty clear and if you were used to seeing that black stuff on there, that was easy to see the oil level? Like Daniel said that oil went down into the pan right away and should have been showing on the dipstick...

why did you get the new car if you were going to park it? that sounds like a nice truck but definitely something you don't want to be using to commute a long distance. you will need a tanker and a banker to keep it running!

thanks jd. I'm not worried about my fuel guage really, more of just a curiosity. I just kept trying to see if i could get the light to come on and never did. A few times i had a gas can with me, just in case i was wrong! I know about how many miles i can get on a tank so i just use the trip odometer...
