I seem to have my Air-con issues sorted out... ended up being a 3 step process... 1. get the cover off the central dash - actually is easier than I expected as it has about 6 'latches' around the silver plastic facia. Carefully use a flathead screwdriver to lever these off and it comes off very nice...
