Re: 1.6 Engine over speeds (Aveo)
Sorry, I checked the console and all I can see is a "HOLD" button and a "SHIFT RELEASE BUTTON" I guess the shift release is in case the mechanism won't release when the brake is depressed and the hold button is for driving in the winter time when the roads are slippery, to keep it in the lower range...

Re: 1.6 Engine over speeds (Aveo)
Thanks benzino. I checked the owners manual and cannot find this "power button". Can you tell me where this is located? Is it within the drivers compartment area? I'll take a look at it today and see if I can find it. I know there is some type of a shift button on the console between the seats, not ...

1.6 Engine over speeds (Aveo)
Hello all, Yes as it says, the wife normally drives this 2004 Aveo and yesterday she said that the engine started racing really high. She said it went up to 6000 rpm's, while she was in drive. I guess it scared the crap out of her, I'm not surprised. I figured it was the floor mat, she insists it wa...

CEL- Need definition.
Hello all, I have a 2004 Chevy Aveo (Kalos) and I received a PO463 when I checked the CEL. It says that it's a fuel level sensor A circuit high input. In your opinion does this mean that the fuel sending unit is on the way out? The CEL keeps coming off and on, it doesn't stay on all of the time and ...

Re: 2004 Chevy AVEO- OBDII Compliant?
Well it was getting kind of old, to keep borrowing this guy's scan tool, so I went out and bought a Actron 9175 that was on sale at a local NAPA. And guess what,it worked. All I can say is, his must be too old to read the codes. He said it was around a 1998 vintage, so he thought. It's not a top of ...

Re: Mainly a test and a question.
Hey, just wanted to post back and let everyone here that tried to help me out that I finally did get the timing changed and I evidently got it right this time because it cleared all the codes that were set. By the way there were 4 of them. I guess the timing being off can create many problems. I eve...

Re: 2004 Chevy AVEO- OBDII Compliant?
Ya I don't know what to make of it either. I know I plugged it in right because I could see it going directly into the outlet. The guy that owns the scanner said it again today, if it's OBDII then that's all there is to it. Does anyone know what the pin outs are? For instance, there should be a powe...

2004 Chevy AVEO- OBDII Compliant?
Hi all, I made an attempt to check the codes with an ACTRON 9615 scanner that I had borrowed from a friend and it wouldn't connect. I tried several times and I got the same reply. I know the sticker under the hood says it is compliant, but this particular scanner wouldn't work. I know the scanner wo...

I'm not sure. The day that I looked at it, it was snowing to beat the band here in Maine and I couldn't get a good look. I think I'll need to take the air filter box off to really get to it. Ever since this storm went through its been real cold and I don't have any way to get it under cover, so I'll...

Battery keeps going dead.
And I did find out why. The belt isn't turning because the serpentine belt tensioner has come unhooked, (spring broke I guess). What is the best method for taking it off? I can see a bolt head on the top, is there another one elsewhere? It would seem as though there should be 2 of them somewhere. Pl...

Thanks for confirming my suspicions. I had a feeling I might have been off somewhere. Do you think it would do any harm to the engine to let it go until next Spring after the weather warms up again? It runs good and the Wife is off my butt about getting the timing belt changed out, and I can go deer...

Well I had a reply written up but I got logged out before I could post it. I'll keep it short I guess. Yes its the second schematic that you have shown, Daniel. Long story short, I did the timing belt change and now the idling is a little jumpy and rough. Once it revs up it runs just like it always ...

Mainly a test and a question.
Hello, I'm new to this site and have been reading your posts for a while. The car I have isn't a Daewoo, but I think the motor is, except there are some differences that I've noted, in particular about the location of the power steering pump. On this car, a 2004 Chevy Aveo, the pump is outside the t...
