Re: Engine Transplant for 88 LeMans
I didn't think it would be that hard to convert the shift fork - thought I'd ask someone who has actually done it, though. I forgot to ask where you're located, but I looked through your other posts, and you mentioned California. The closest turbo Sunbird I could find was this: http://seattle.craigs...

Re: Engine Transplant for 88 LeMans
Ok, so you've got the little SOHC Lemans 1.6 mated to a converted Lanos 5 speed. I can understand why you'd want an upgrade. I've owned 2 Lemans with the 8V 1.6, and while they're peppy little engines, they run out of steam real quick with only 74 HP! Out of curiousity, how difficult was it to swap ...

Re: Engine Transplant for 88 LeMans
Just to clarify, do you have the factory LeMans 1.6 SOHC engine WITH a 5 spd MT from a Lanos , or the factory Lanos 1.6 DOHC engine & 5 spd MT ... ? I will have a bad/core N/A 2.0L 8V Lemans engine available once I finally complete my C20GET (Sunbird Turbo) swap ... it could be yours if you can't fi...

UPDATE! Daewoo/Opel drift car?
Well, after looking around Craigslist for what seemed like ages, I couldn't find a decent GM F-body ... However, I did find a drift ready 1993 BMW 325is, though! It's got the M50 engine in it with a Turner Motorsports chip (210 hp, 200 lb/ft torque), Custom control arms & steering knuckles that add ...

Good time to buy British parts right now
With Daewoos sharing a lot of parts with Vauxhalls I thought this would be good news for anyone looking for a good deal on some upgrades. I've been looking for a good price on a Quaife ATB differential for my Lanos project, and I recently discovered that the enchange rate (USD/GBP) has become more f...

Re: The longest Thread ever!!!
I try to stop in a couple times a month ... mostly looking up information for my project car, but it's always nice to see old familiar people on here - the die-hard Daewoo enthusiasts!

Re: Daewoo/Opel drift car?
I went and looked at the transmission at a wrecking yard, and the bellhousing was the same as Daewoo/Opel. The guy wouldn't sell me just the bellhousing, and I wasn't going to pay $450 for a transmission with SUV gear ratios. They hardly made any of the RWD Isuzu Amigos. I mean, who is going to buy ...

Ok, so here's a few pics of a 1.4 Cruze/Sonic engine bolted to a T-5 ... http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m15/davinci_360/Cruze%20engine%20bolted%20on%20a%20T5%20transmission%201.jpg http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m15/davinci_360/Cruze%20engine%20bolted%20on%20a%20T5%20transmission%202.jpg

Re: Daewoo/Opel drift car?
So, recently I've changed my mind on a drift car, and I've been looking into getting a 1998 or newer 4th generation Camaro or Firebird (GM F-Body). I'm considering the 3800 V6 powered versions because they have better weight distribution, and (more importantly) are within my price range. I know of a...

FYI - Lanos radiator works great in Lemans
A friend of mine has a Lemans that needed a radiator, and she was on a budget, so I offered to help her fix it. The price for a Lemans radiator was high (around $110 on eBay), and a Lanos radiator was half that at $55. I installed it today - it's not a perfect fit, but with a drill, some nuts and bo...

Re: Aveo motor swap (1.6) into Lanos (1.6)
That's awesome! I'd really like to see some of the pics of the project, and hear how you made it all work ... definitely keep us posted! I've never heard of anyone pulling it off here in the US - Good news for us Lanos owners!

Re: Daewoo/Opel drift car?
I recently came across a 1974 Opel Manta on Craigslist for cheap, and it really got me thinking. I mean, it weighs less than a Lanos, it's RWD, weight distribution is 53% front, and it has a HUGE engine bay (for a bigger engine or plumbing for a turbo). I know the stock engine is a 1.9 with Iron blo...

Re: The longest Thread ever!!!
I still have my silver Lanos S commuter - runs like a champ! My red Sport Lanos is dead in the water for now - timing belt stripped some teeth, but it'll get the C20GET engine from my Sunbird, and the gearbox from my Lemans (that removable access panel for the clutch is nice!). After I'm done, I'll ...
