Re: Fewer modified Daewoo's on the forum

I'm pleased to say that I visit the forum quite frequently to see what's going on with all of the performance projects. I own 2 Pontiac Lemans (a VL and an LE) and a C20GET sunbird (just an engine donor), and I'm currently working on buying a 2000 Lanos hatchback in the next few weeks. If it wasn't ...

Re: New 1.4L turbo from GM

138 hp is what you'll get from a de-tuned version designed for fuel economy. This engine will have a lot of potential. I imagine it will be similiar to the other direct injection engines (solstice, cobalt ss turbo), and GM will offer a performance chip for it to run on only premium gas, but put out ...

Cobalt turbo engine compatibility?

I have been wondering for awhile how much of the Cobalt SS/Solstice/Sky turbo engine (LNF) could be used in GM/DAewoo cars, or with our engines. I seem to remember reading that the block doesn't have the same Opel/Daewoo bellhousing bolt pattern, so it's not a swap-able engine, but does anyone know ...

Anyone familiar with the Isuzu Implulse RS AWD?

I keep seeing an Isuzu Impulse RS AWD for sale on Craigslist, and I was wondering if anyone on here knows about them. The guy is only asking $1000 for it, and it's a rare car to find - I have to say I'm a little tempted to buy it. According to the "Master List... Year, Make, Model, Engine code, Tran...

Re: New Lacetti launched in South Korea

According to the Sept. '09 Car and Driver article, the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze will have the following engine options ... The 1.8-liter (from the Opel/Saturn Astra) rated at 138 hp and 129 lb-ft torque OR A Turbo 1.4-liter producing 140 hp and 148 lb-ft torque It's produced by GM-Daewoo, so I hope this...

Re: gas-saving tips

Again, I can only really vouch for my car - an '89 Lemans with the 1.6 8v throttle body injection. I have turned the ignition off while coasting down a long hill in gear, and the engine acts very much like i just took my foot off the accelerator. I've also had my car die coasting in gear, and essent...

Re: gas-saving tips

If you don't believe the factory service manual's description of how this works, I don't really know what to say ... The idea here is that if a manual transmission is in gear, and you let the clutch out, without pushing the accelerator pedal, the engine will either die (if you're stopped), or slow t...

Automatic & manual blocks for the C20GET are different?

I've got a '90 Sunbird turbo with an automatic in it. Am I going to have a problem bolting the engine up to the 5 speed manual in my '89 Lemans? These are the only posts I could find that mention anything about it: No, the 1.6 and the 2.0 both have Cast Iron blocks. Aluminum 8 valve heads and the sa...

Re: gas-saving tips

I think part of the confusion here comes from the difference between automatic and manual transmissions. I can certainly vouch for a manual transmission - engine braking does stop the fuel injectors, and ignition system. You're essentially allowing the resistance of the compressed air in the cylinde...

Re: 89 LEMANS HELP

I have two '89 Lemans, and I've had problems with fuel delivery in the past on one of them. I'm guessing you have the 1.6 litre Throttle Body Injection, right? I would use a pair of wire probes and a volt meter (or a test light) to test the voltage on the fuel injector circuit. It's easy to just pro...

difference in engine blocks

Interesting... I was using C20GET auto block, and had to grind one corner to fit F16. Possibly this is a difference between the markets. So, I have a '90 Turbo Sunbird with the automatic ... sounds like I might want to find out if anyone I know has a grinder. Does anyone have any pics of the two di...

Re: c20get engine swap into Lemans question

Don't trouble yourself for the wiring diagrams for the Lemans. I have the factory service manual for the '89 Lemans, and it has everything there that I need (i think). I don't have anything related to the Sunbird though. I'll look for that round connector when I get the chance - Thanks for your help!

anyone gonna respond...?

Maybe I should clarify - I was just wondering: Will the ignition system from the Lemans (HEI, EST, and misc. other wiring) plug into the distributor on a c20get and work? Or will the c20get ECU need the ignition setup/wiring out of the Sunbird? Basically, how much of the Lemans wiring can I use, if ...

Re: Lemans hood compatibility

I've seen a lot of the inserts, and they look too aggressive to me. I don't want my car to look angry - I just want the headlights to narrow toward the middle a little. I found some pics of what I'm looking for ... I'd like to make my hood/headlights look like this ... http://i100.photobucket.com/al...

c20get engine swap into Lemans question

Well, guys, I am now the proud owner of a '90 Sunbird LE turbo convertible. The engine runs good, turbo spools, and with a little tune-up it should run great! I plan on swapping the engine into my '89 Lemans, and I just wanted to make sure I'm not getting myself in over my head with this project. I'...
