Re: How do you tighten alternator belt? 1.6l
A picture paints a thousand words. It sounds like the real problem is the bushing/grommet around the bolt is defective, and you can't find a parts car that you could scavenge one from - which would be the cheapest and best solution. In your situation I would head over to a local hardware or auto par...

Re: How do you tighten alternator belt? 1.6l
I actually just had to do this. I had my timing belt replaced, and also had the serpentine belts replaced at the same time. Apparently the belts stretch out when they are new, and they started to squeal when I started it up, or at night when the lights were on. I loosened the top alternator bolt, an...

Re: Which has a better rear drum setup?
I originally posted this due to the fact that I see a lot of Pontiac Lemans in scrapyards, and I thought I could pick up a rear beam to play around with ... maybe I could do my own tinkering with a rear disc setup myself I seem to remember seeing the Saturn rear disc setup on the forum before - didn...

Re: Which has a better rear drum setup?
I haven't had to remove my rear drums on my Lanos yet, so I'm not sure about the rear drum setup, but I know from experience that the Lemans drums pull right off over the rear hub. So, you can confirm that the rear beams are interchangeable, right? Rear disc brakes would definitely be MUCH better! I...

Re: O.E. LeMans 1.6 liter for 1990 LeMans
I've owned 3 Pontiac Lemans, including a GSE (with the 2.0 L engine). I'm not 100% sure, but in all my research with my Lemans flipping through the factory service manual, the only major electrical difference between the 1.6 (vin 6) and 2.0 L (vin K) engine seems to be the addition of a MAT (manifol...

Which has a better rear drum setup?
I've been thinking for awhile about swapping the rear beam from a Lemans to my Lanos. It might seem crazy because they should be about the same - I remember that the rear drums on a Lemans slid on over the hub, though - making a rear brake job tons easier (no bearings to replace/repack). From a stan...

Is that the Kadett E front bumper with a lip? That'll bolt right onto my GSE Lemans, right?

Recommended clutch setup for C20GET into Lemans GSE swap?
Earlier this year I acquired a beautiful bright red '89 Lemans GSE for $300. Almost perfect body, interior in fair shape, and has a blown engine (bad oil pump, I believe). I've had a C20GET in a Sunbird Convertible for awhile, and I was preparing to swap it into a 1.6 Lemans, until I came across the...

Re: Daewoo Lanos Cluster w/ RPM guage!
It'd be nice if the speedometer was in MPH - I could see many speeding tickets in my future without it. How hard would it be to convert it to MPH?

Re: Le Mans 1.6... Water pump.
ummm ... I'm pretty sure the Lemans 1.6 is non-interference ... no offense to you, Daniel, but I'd listen to PrecisionBoost on this one - he's got several Lemans, and he knows those engines inside-out, upside-down, and backwards - he's posted some of the most informative stuff on this site. Also, I ...

Re: torn CV boots, need advice
Well, I looked around at the local auto part stores, and I found axles for $68 a piece - not too expensive. I think I'll have a little more piece of mind knowing they're new. I called the guy I bought the car from (he's a European car mechanic), and he said he'd help my put the new axles in it. Now ...

torn CV boots, need advice
I'm the proud new owner of a '99 Daewoo Lanos, and so far it's been a great car. I was putting the 16" wheels off of my Lemans on it, when I discovered that both front outer CV boots were torn. I have heard some clicking when turning, but it doesn't do it every time I turn, so I think the joints the...
