Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

Kinda glad I swapped it now, because with new MoT test laws in the UK coming in next month I'd have had to spend more time and money on the car than it was actually worth - even the parts on the car were worth more than the car itself - making it very uneconomical to keep. The only other option woul...

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

No, I straight swapped it for a BMW E36 316i Compact.

Although, I have a feeling I will be back here one day with another Daewoo ;-)

Re: rodd1s' ex-turbo Lanos [1349 sleeper in the making]

I seem to have come across an abundance of X18XE and Z18XE engines on ebay for around ~£100 - I am very tempted! With 123bhp out the box, and endless tuning capabilities (turbo kits, throttle bodies, cams, exhausts, etc - all readily available) this would be a nice little match for the Lanos. Any ot...

Re: My Lanos - FOR SALE

Found out I can get an MoT test done this month without having to fix the airbag or engine light on the dash, because the new rules don't come in until April...

along with that I've just noticed how cheap Opel/Vauxhall X18XE engines go for... ~£100

Re: My Lanos - FOR SALE

Well, my car is due for an MoT (Ministry of Transport) test - a yearly test that all vehicles in the UK must pass (which I'm sure has been mentioned several times on this forum) Next month when I need to get my MoT test done new rules are being brought in which states that no dash lights are to be i...

Re: My 1.4 Lanos

I just noticed the "gather turbo parts" in your signature... I still have a few bits laying about if you're interested in buying anything. And those little 8v lumps are good for turbo conversions as long as the clutch don't die... had mine boosting between 10 and 15 psi (dodgey wastegate) and it was...

Re: Help needed - Daewoo Lanos 1.6

sounds like a good buy! the 1.6 rods are forged, the 2.0 are not. the 2.0 rod tipically doesn't go over 200WHP, the 1.6 being forged should handle over 200whp with no problem. it should go well over 220whp.... I don't mean to piss on your bonfire, but he wants to make 220 kW at the wheels, not HP.....

Re: 1349 & 1498 sohc camshaft differences

I'd check the timing of them both first. Lift is one thing, then duration, then overlap.... Another thing to think about is the pulley wheel. Is the indent pin at the same place on both of the cams. Yes, everything is exactly the same... as is with the majority of GM's short-block 8 valve engines. ...

1349 & 1498 sohc camshaft differences

I've just been having a browse through the Lanos service manual, and noticed that the 1349cc sohc camshaft intake lift is 5.61mm, and the 1498cc sohc intake lift is 6.12mm and they both have an exhaust lift of 6.12mm as well. would there be any noticable advantage in fitting a camshaft with about 0....
